Emily Jean Stone was born on November 6, 1988 to Krista Jean Stone and Jeffrey Charles Stone in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was schooled at Sequoya Elementary School and attended Cocopah Middle School for the sixth grade. She later left education to make a career in acting.
In 2004, Emma made her TV debut in an American TV series The Partridge Family and debuted in the 2007 teen comedy film, Superbad. In 2009, she appeared in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and subsequently featured in films like Paper Man (2009), Zombieland (2009), Friends with Benefits (2011), and Crazy Stupid Love (2011). She rose to prominence with the film The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012. Her success followed in films like Magic in the Moonlight (2014), Aloha (2015), and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016). However, her 2016 American musical comedy La La Land brought her wider recognition. Among her several wins, Emma has won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a British Film Academy Award, all three for Best Actress, for her role in the 2016 movie La La Land. She has won three Screen Actors Guild Awards respectively for each of her roles in the movies The Help (2012), Birdman (2015), and La La Land (2017). She is also the recipient of the Critics Choice Movie Award for the 2012 movie, The Help, and Nickelodeaon Kids Choice Award for the 2014 movie The Amazing Spiderman.

Emma Stone dated her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield in 2010, but they broke up in 2014. Since 2017, Stone is dating Saturday Night Live segment director Dave McCary. Among her other accolades, she was featured by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, in 2017.
