Born as Peter Gene Hernandez on October 8, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Peter Hernandez and Bernadette San Pedro Bayot, Bruno Mars is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, and dancer. In 2003, he graduated from the President Theodore Roosevelt High School.
After a fruitless deal with Motown Records in 2004, Bruno signed Atlantic Records in 2006, and his career escalated to great heights. Additionally, he teamed up with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine to set up a songwriting and record production team, The Smeezingtons, in 2009. The team became popular and in much demand since its foundation. In July 2010, Bruno Mars released his first independent single, Just the Way You Are, which charted at No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. He was catapulted with global stardom, which further rolled successful hits like Locked Out of Heaven, When I Was Your Man, Uptown Funk, 24K Magic, That’s What I Like, and Finesse. Mars has been the recipient of numerous awards including 11 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, nine American Music Awards, 10 Soul Train Awards and holds three Guinness World Records. He has featured in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2011 and Forbes magazine’s lists of ’30 under 30′ in 2013, ‘the world’s most powerful celebrities’ in 2014, and ‘Celebrity 100’ in 2018 and 2019. He has also won 14 awards from ASCAP including three for the Most Performed Song –Locked Out of Heaven, When I Was Your Man, and Treasure—in 2014.

Bruno Mars was dating singer and actress, Rita Ora. The couple broke up in 2011 due to work pressures. In 2011, he began dating model Jessica Caban. In 2019, he was positioned at number 54 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, with estimated earnings of $51.5 million. He is one of the highest paid musicians in America. He is the supporter of various philanthropic activities. In May 2013, as he was returning from an overseas gig, he learnt about his mother’s ill health and soon left for Hawaii to meet his ill mother. However, his mother died on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the age of 55.
